Glenn:
Take a deep breath, lie back in your favorite chair and think of the help and inspiration you and Sharon have given all of your students and colleagues. Think of their successes which you help spur on and guide. Then feel the gratitude and love that anyone of your students must feel due the fact that you touched their lives. As Cialdini says this is totally in consonance with how we feel because your consistency is palpable and your ability to share is legendary.

Dont go thinking I am going off the high board here but in that deep dive I feel the need to reciprocate so others will discover.

Thanks for all your advice, this post included.

May you and Sharon have a healthy and prosperous New Year

Thanks for the post Glenn - I always enjoy your insights and how you package them with such a good "BANG!"

This truth that you mention is one of the few nice thing about working with victims of domestic abuse. You see if you have built trust with them they are in such a bad situation that they are often genuinely ready to try anything and can learn and do things most psychologists would never expect.

For instance they can over come addictions, break the habit of being over reactive, learn to self soothe, learn to ask for help without becoming emotional (so that people will listen) and they can even learn to challenge their partner to face their own fears while setting real life boundaries that have real teeth.

In fact all the stuff they needed but didn't learn as a child.

This is so ironic, because these people who are so ready to change and take on anything are the very people who are usually just told to just run away by people who don't understand that this will usually leave them in more danger than they were in before.

I do agree with you wholeheartedly though Glenn that this usually isn't the case and people don't usually want to move beyond what they already know.

So you could in fact reverse engineer this and see that when your ego has taken a big hit or your situation has become very desperate it is often the time when there is the most potential for great progress in your character.

I think this is maybe why you often talk about going bankrupt in such a positive way?

I have always wanted to do a short movie or something on the ego as inversely proportional to the success of a persons business. It is a marketing idea that needs pursuing ...

It is often real life people offering the solutions they have found to their most embarrassing problems that are the winners in business rather than all of the big corporate big shot ideas that time and again I have watched send people broke!

I will try your suggestion today as I continue revamping my site to give it a more feminine touch!

keep having fun (-:

Yup, root vb does = (root v) * (root b). You'd think I'd have tried that before asking... much obliged.

square root of (v*b) ... but I think that's equivalent to square root of v x square root of b isn't it?
(see this <a href="http://www.payperclicksearchmarketing.com/SQRT.xls">spreadsheet</a>)

Thanks, Glenn! Very eye-opening... love me, trust me. Bummer that I missed out on the call today. BTW, the exercise helps focus the mind, which is exactly what we need because life is busy! =) And it does work. When you get back to your AdWords account, write down the things you find. And remember to work on some!

<i>"Being a successful psychologist had more to do with my ability to help people love me than everything I learned in school."</i> That was a revolutionary insight for me Glenn. Deep down I knew this to be true, but I've never heard it expressed so clearly. I have to confess, I often find your insights into psychotherapy as or more interesting as your marketing info, and I love your marketing info.
Quick question: on today's call with Perry you talked about a formula, I won't give it out here, but it was not clear if you meant the square root of v*b, or the square root of v * the square root of b. Hoping you can clear that up for us on the call.
Thanks again Glenn.

Interesting post ...
The exercise is a good thing to do....but the point is especially loving them enough so as to not think that you know..that you know completely..your knowing is your knowing- that's the point..(not necessaraly theirs, they have their model of the world..so get into that world and start from there)
How this applies to marketing? Well it does.
(love you enough Glenn to give a reaction)

kind regards/ best wishes,
