Google vs. Facebook – Advertising Wars

by admin on 1:45 pm

  1. There’s a LOT more advertising inventory available than what you see in Google. (Google owns search, but there are about a dozen other networks with MUCH more inventory for display advertising)
  2. You haven’t been able to get at it yet because of extremely high minimum spends (e.g. $10K to $20K/mo commitments) and because it’s much harder to target effectively …
  3. The coming war between Google (who organizes the world’s information – Web 1.0) and Facebook (who organizes and connects the world’s people – Web 2.0) really defines the differing values and changing search behavior we can expect to see in coming years…
  4. This war should open the vast traffic networks to the smaller entrepreneur (who has prepared the right tools)…
  5. To prepare for the opportunity, please listen to the free MP3 below

Interested in the coming wars between Facebook and Google, but more interested currently in the Pages that can be created currently on Facebook for businesses. What can be done to help small advertisers with great products and services such as the “Audio Internet” and “Audio Home Tours Marketing Systems” in developing campaigns to target prospects on Facebook?

Thanks in advance, enjoyed the entire call.

A fascinating, if slightly egg-head interview (and I mean that in a good way)!

I “discovered” Facebook advertising the other day, with an ad. for a local restaurant that had recently changed hands. Seeing the ad was strangely more powerful than if I’d seen the same ad on Google, far more “intimate”, enough to get me there as a paying customer within a few days.

Once there, I quizzed the waiter (?), who surprisingly knew about the Facebook campaign and was quite happy to say how successful it had been, especially because it could target demographics so easily.

Yes, I have no doubt, Facebook advertising WILL be the next big advertising frontier.

FYI, here’s an article that your readers may find interesting, about a guy (hopefully a true story) who landed a job in Microsoft using Facebook ads. for a spend of $50!

Interesting Article. I still will go for google because people do not go to facebook for buying stuff but people who search on google rather do it for making buying decisions.

I think the biggest challenge with Facebook is that the level or depth of targeting is not as granular as is possible with Google. They will need to evolve their functionality for users and data collection in order to increase the targeting where as Google’s targeting is not restricted and is organic.

Just my 2 cents.

Love your Audio’s by the way.

I find ads an interesting and constantly changing area. I am cautious about marketing in Facebook because of the strong social basis. I think if you can accept the Google rules due to the huge search traffic you will find the greatest potential market. However, it is often the case that a smaller more qualified market exposure generates more sales.

I read an article yesterday that amazon.com grew revenues by $2.1 billion when they introduced “recommendations”. this is where Facebook will dominate google. Friends, colleagues, and family recommending products and services via social marketing.
